Diplomate of the AADSM

Picture

On July 15, 2019 Gregory Osborne, DDS was certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine (ABDSM). This comes as the culmination of over 30 years of experience in sleep medicine and helping patients with airway problems.
Dental sleep medicine encompasses the clinical treatment of patients with sleep-related breathing disorders through utilization of oral appliance therapy, the promotion of long-term management of patients with sleep-related breathing disorders, and the scientific investigation of topics related to dental sleep medicine.
The ABDSM Diplomate status is the gold standard in dental sleep medicine demonstrating that a dentist has the technical skill, in-depth knowledge and professional judgment to provide optimal oral appliance therapy care.

Dr. Osborne Named as Qualified Dentist by Expert Association

In February, our very own Dr. Osborne joined some of the leading sleep dentists and physicians worldwide in Chicago for a meeting of the
American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine (AADSM). Dr. Osborne received “Qualified Dentist” status recognizing his commitment to the field of dental sleep medicine. Dr. Osborne’s recognition sets him apart from other sleep medicine professionals in the San Antonio area.

What is the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine?

The American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine establishes standards for treatment of sleep-disordered breathing and provides ongoing education for dental professionals. At Sleep Easy Dentistry, our highly qualified team strives to provide the best care for our patients through ongoing education and collaboration with other experts. Through Dr. Osborne’s participation with the AADSM, we are held to the highest standards when caring for our patients and treating sleep breathing disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea. We also must stay on the cutting edge of medical technology and treatment for dental sleep medicine and oral appliance therapy.

When asked about the importance of the meeting, Dr. Osborne says, “I met with about 100 other dentists from all over the world in Chicago in February to continue learning from some of the leading sleep dentists and physicians.” Our patients benefit from our ability to pull from an immense network of physicians and other medical professionals who collaborate with us to treat sleep breathing disorders.

How Does Dr. Osborne’s Recognition as a Qualified Dentist Improve Your Care?

In order to become a qualified dentist, one must have at least 25 hours of recognized continuing education in dental sleep medicine over the last two years. Dr. Osborne is one of just a handful of recognized Qualified Dentists in the San Antonio area and has been working with mandibular advancement devices longer than just about anyone in San Antonio. Dr. Osborne doesn’t plan to rest on his laurels, however: “The Qualified Dentist status was the next step in my hopes and plans to become a Diplomate with the AADSM, [a status] relatively few dentists have ever attained.”
